A rope has been lowered onto him
The site, known as the Beaver Bank Cottage, has a long history and many years ago included housing units, a community center, a fire station, a school, a church, a store, and more (all demolished by 2004) to support workers at the nearby military radar base that operated in the 1950s and 1960s. All that remains are the paved streets and alleys, and a mock town has been built on top of them. As Boyd enters the distant forest, he finds himself at the bottom of a well.
Martin did not throw the rope

Seasons 1 & 2 are included, but they unnecessarily drag out the episodes from season 3, which is annoying
The episode from season 3 was good, but then it just builds up to some moments that don’t make us emotionally connect with the situation, and most of all, I missed a few unwanted conversations with the characters. It used to be very exciting, but now it has devolved into a drama that seems out of place. I think after the first episode of season 3, the remaining 8 episodes can actually be compressed into 3 episodes at most.
Maybe they have plans for a second season
But this method of stretching out the episodes is not ideal as it is irritating for most fans, including me. I hope they fix the problem next season.
